Visitors are always welcome at our meetings.
Dallas Bird Society has been helping people who love birds network and learn more since 1948. We meet once a month to enjoy our friendships and learn more about our feathered companions.
History
The Dallas Bird Society, Inc. was established in 1948. On September 20, 1999, we became recognized by the State of Texas and Federal Government as a non-profit with the designation of 501(c) (3).
Our collective interests are not only in the exotic birds in our flocks; but in the wild birds who also inhabit our world. We are an avian organization promoting avian research and education to the general population through community service organizations - and so much more! Our monies and our members support our mission of saving and caring for all birds - not just our pet birds.
What we do . . .
We hold meetings each month. We also have frequent field trips to learn as much as possible about the birds who share our universe. We have a different speaker every month. Some past topics we have enjoyed are homing pigeons; avian research; bluebirds; how to raise and care for your pet birds of all species; hand feeding; breeding; and extinct birds, to name a few. Each month is different and varied and our speakers are experts in their field.
We are very lucky to have members who love sharing their knowledge and club officers who bring in outside speakers to share their vast information with us. Our members are varied - from hobbyist to breeders and always at the ready to help anyone who asks. We are a family-based organization with the common interest to educate our communities on the care, feeding, breeding and health of all birds. The Quill is the DBS monthly newsletter that keeps all members notified from month to month.
